Technical Data
Chymotrypsin is used in many applications, primarily in digestion, but has other applications including treatment of redness and swelling associated with infection, ulcers, surgery, or critical illness. There is some evidence that taking a mixture of chymotrypsin and trypsin by mouth might decrease tissue destruction in burn patients. It is also used to treat chronic pain and inflammation, Sinus infections and skin conditions. Chymotrypsin is synthesized in the pancreas by protein biosynthesis and is typically used in combination with Trypsin.
